Settled was a quick but distinct project: designing the first iteration of a friend’s restaurant reservation startup website. The aesthetic was a departure from my usual work, leaning minimalistic, neutral, and luxe-coded.
While the site has since evolved beyond my initial design, the project was a valuable exercise in restraint and adapting to a brand voice very different from my own.
The brief called for something that felt elevated and trustworthy, a site that could sit alongside high-end dining brands. I leaned into generous whitespace, a muted earth-tone palette, and restrained typography. Every element earned its place on the page.
This project taught me that good design isn’t about a personal style. It’s about serving the brand. Working within constraints that were opposite to my instincts made me a more versatile designer. Sometimes the best thing you can do is get out of your own way.
